Lebenslauf

Benedikt Borrmann absolvierte bereits vor dem Studium erste Regiehospitanzen an der Deutschen Oper am Rhein. Weitere Assistenzen an der Oper Zürich, in Düsseldorf und am Theater Ingolstadt folgten. Eigene Regiearbeiten führten ihn an zahlreiche Theater im In- und Ausland.

Am Theater Münster wie am Staatstheater Kassel war er mehrere Jahre als Spielleiter des Musiktheaters engagiert. Mittlerweile hat er mehr als fünfzig Produktionen erarbeitet sowohl im Bereich Oper und Operette, sowie zahlreiche Musicals und von ihm konzipierte Musiktheaterproduktionen.

2011 begründete er mit dem Intendanten der Burgfestspiele die Sparte Familienoper in Bad Vilbel die seitdem zahlreiche und höchst erfolgreiche Inszenierungen herausbrachte.

Seit 2014 unterrichtet Benedikt Borrmann auch als Dozent für szenischen Unterricht an der Musikhochschule in Münster.

Curriculum vitae

Benedikt Borrmann was born in Düsseldorf, Germany. After studies at the University of Bonn and Düsseldorf, as well as several apprenticeships in various European cities, Benedikt Borrmann has been engaged by numerous German theaters. After a seven-year contract as stage manager at the Municipal Theater of Ingolstadt, Mr. Borrmann was engaged by the Municipal Theater of Münster (Westphalia) for a further seven years, where he progressed from Assistant Director to Stage Director himself.

Even his first production „Die weisse Rose“ by Udo Zimmermann was universally praised by both the audience, as well as the press. Of his numerous highly acclaimed productions, foremost are the rediscovery and German first Production of the baroque opera „Arianna in Nasso“ by Nicola Porpora.

In 2004 Benedikt Borrmann was appointed resident stage director at the State Theater of Kassel where he continued to score great success with productions including „The cunning little Vixen“ by Janacek, „Bartered Bride“ by Smetana, and operas by Verdi, Porpora, Bernstein, etc.

Since 2007 Borrmann is a freelance stage director and has received great recognition i.e. at the National Theater in Mannheim, the Municipal Theaters of Trier, Pforzheim and Neustrelitz, the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania (Italy) and the Castle Festspiele at Bad Vilbel (Frankfurt). as of 2014 Mr. Borrmann is a lecturer for individual stage training at the Music University in Münster.
